My social media experience is very limited in posting but consuming media has gotten a lot bigger, and I think it is because of the generation I grew up in. Now the younger generation is consuming social media in a different way. The younger generation z and generation alpha are consuming social media in such a large amount of the point they are learning so much about the environment that most people do not think about how the children learn now. And I feel we need to bring in more inquiry-based learning into the classroom because of the way social media has changed the outlook of the generation z and gen alpha.

The way social media has changed learning for me is that people have a shorter attention span because they most children can not focus for more than five minutes at a time. It is getting harder to teach because of the shorter attention span. But when put into an inquiry-based learning helps ground students in becoming good listeners and to focus better. Social media for me is showing who you are as a person and to show your achievements to the world or followers. It is why I did not post on social media that much because I compared myself to the other people I followed, and I knew my life was not the same and that I did not want people to see my life because I felt fake posting on social media. Now I want to use it to teach others about my experiences to help others and not to use it to post about your life to compare yourself with others.

Questions from reflection that can up

how can social media encourage classroom management and motivation for the students? In a positive way students and parents can see what is learned every day while still being professional about the platform use?

Answer:

One of the things I want to learn from my social media experience is how to use it in the classroom and learn along side the students on how to use it in a classroom setting if they are old enough to understand the platform. They can help create content and encourage their parents to look to see what they do in a day and use it a s a learning tool. It is a unique way to connect the students and families together about school.

I feel social media can change to a positive environment to share the classroom experience and keep the students on track to what they need to get done during the day and parents can check to see the activities they are learning through the school year. The platform could be TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, threads, and teachers pay teachers. This can also set a boundary between parents and teacher because they relationship is different. The parents have an opportunity to see what the students are learning and what it looks like through out the day.
