In Class Creation
The creation that Sommer and I created a stop motion video with a parent penguin and their baby penguins. The baby’s follow the parent. This is a great resource for children to create a stop motion video in the classroom to show their creativity and try new ways of storytelling. This could relate to any class subject and children enjoy creative thinking projects. It could be for a book report in English, food chains in science or storytelling from social studies. The options are endless.
Zing Studio
The platform we used was Zing studio it is a great resource for a classroom if they have tablets available for use. It was great because they could record what the movement of objects in a video or multiple photos capture. The one challenge I have is uploading it to YouTube to share it online. You can save to the device, but it was a challenge to share it with others with the time frame given. It takes time and while helping in the classroom I will be mindful it takes time for me to save and share the creation the students made in class to share with the parents.
Connection
One of the memories I have with stop animation or stop motion videos was my brother’s class in Grade Five read the book the hobbit and they created a stop animation of the book and recorded it for the class to have by December break to present to the creation of the stop motion. Each student did different scenes in the film. This is one way to incorporate stop animation into the curriculum.
