Krista and Jessica’s Presentation

They had a PowerPoint for their presentation. The topic is about bringing technology into outdoor education. Some of the highlights for me is the number of different apps they found and how they presented the app in the presentation. I loved the videos of them using the app and talking about the pros and cons of using the app and if they would use it in a classroom setting. My favourite app they introduced to me is the Night Sky App. This app shows different constellations, stars, and planets outside. One of the pros I liked is that they do not have to go outside to use the app so if the weather is not suitable to take it outside, they can still use the app. As well as the lesson plans and quizzes on the app.

Ethan, Melissa, Andrea, and Amanda’s Presentation

There presentation was a screencast of them playing video games for the classroom. There topic was educational video games, specifically one that can be done on a laptop or through and app. Each person in the group focused on a school subject like math, English, and diverse learners, and Ethan focused on one program Minecraft Ed. Which explores resources for teachers and focused for an older student because they need to know how to use a keyboard and mouse to play the game. While the other online games were for the younger grades because it was to help develop math and English skills. Amanda focused on math games and highlighted Prodigy, math playground, and ABCya. Melissa focused on English games and highlighted Prodigy, Epic books, IXL learning, and ABCmouse.com.  Andrea focused on games for diverse learners the games she highlighted were PBS Kids and Room Recess.

Overall, there presentation was great and helped me build resources for online games to use in the classroom. Specifically for the younger primary age group. These programs are a great way to start teaching children how to use a laptop and helps the teacher’s choice of the games to play in the classroom. Knowing the children are learning online and potentially growing into home life.
